How - and why - to become a member

Paid members are the backbone of our volunteer organization. Membership gives you voting privileges at our quarterly membership meetings on matters ranging from new capitol projects to selection of our production season and board of directors. All directors, managers and board members are expected to hold current memberships, and our play reading and nominating committees are chosen from the membership ranks. Your membership lets you vote on our annual production awards, and gives you free admission to the annual recognition event, The Big Night.

Membership costs the same as a general admission ticket - just $11 - and can be purchased at the theater box office, at membership meetings or by using this order form.

Board of Directors (2011-2012)

ACT members elect a new board every summer to take office in September; the president, vice president, facilities coordinator, production coordinator and publicity coordinator serve one-year terms, and the secretary and treasurer serve for two years.

Board meetings

As provided in our by-laws, the ACT Board meets monthly to conduct the theater's business. All meetings are open unless the board declares an executive session to discuss personnel contract negotiations, acquisition of property, or security; however, participation in discussion of business is limited to board members unless they choose to recognize visitors.

Membership meetings are held quarterly, and are open to all; however only currently paid members may vote on the issues that come before the members.

The annual meeting of the corporation takes place at the July membership meeting, at which time members elect a new board of directors. The annual meeting of the board takes place in September, and they are required to set meeting dates for the year.

All meetings take place at the theater, 111 W. First Ave., unless otherwise announced and publicized in advance.

• Nov. 6, 2011 Board 5 pm (Location change for this meeting only: Java Network, 5432 Pacific Blvd. SW)

• Jan. 8, 2012, Board 5 pm, Membership 6:30 pm (charge to play reading committee)
• Feb. 5, 2012, Board at Noon
• Mar. 4, 2012, Board 5 pm
• April 1, 2012, Board 5 pm, Membership 6:30 pm (2012-2013 season approval)
• May 6, 2012, Board 5 pm
• June 3, 2012 Board 5 pm
• July 7, 2012, Board 5 pm, Membership 6:30 pm (election of officers)
• Aug. 5, 2012, Board 5 pm
• Sept. 9, 2012, Board 5 pm, Membership 6:30 pm (new board takes office)
