The original Broadway production, with Carol Channing in the title role, played for 2844 performances, making it the longest-playing Broadway musical of its time. Winner of 10 Tony Awards , the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Musical and many other awards. The directorChristi Sears has become ACT's top director of musicals, with a string of successes including The Rocky Horror Show, The Pirates of Penzance, Into the Woods and last season's You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.
